Tourist information for Urakawa, the home of horse breeding

Urakawa, a town of hills, sea and meadows, is full of tourist attractions!

      Yushun Sakura Road

      Yushun Sakura Road is just a few minutes' drive from our hotel.
      In early spring, the cherry blossoms create a tunnel, creating a truly beautiful sight.
      During the cherry blossom festival, which is held during the cherry blossom season, the area is lit up at night.
      It further enhances the beauty of the Siberian cherry blossoms.
      The best time to see them is from late April to early May.

      Urakawa Port Festival

      These fireworks are part of the Urakawa Port Festival, held in mid-August, and are a 3-minute walk from Urakawa Station.
      Approximately 400 fireworks are launched every year, captivating visitors.
      The hotel is also within walking distance.

      Autumn leaves along Tenma Kaido

      The changing of the seasons among the mountains along National Route 236 is truly spectacular.
      In particular, the autumn foliage and the spectacular views of the valley are not to be missed.
      The best time to see them is from late September to mid-October.

      Hidaka

      Hidaka -Erimo-Tokachi National Park was designated on June 25, 2024.
      This is Japan's largest national park, stretching approximately 140 km from north to south across Hidaka, through the forested foothills, to the coastal region characterized by sheer sea cliffs and marine terraces.
      You can see the magnificent Hidaka from here.
      Additionally, Tenma Kaido provides access to the trailhead for Mt. Rakuko, which is part of Hidaka.
      If you're looking for an active experience, try mountain climbing.

      Horse Grazing Tour JRA Hidaka Training and Research Center

      Urakawa has many horse ranches that produce racehorses.
      Look at the beautiful horses.
      The ranch is just a short drive from our hotel.

      Urakawa Horse Festival

      In July, the "Urakawa Horse Festa" will be held at a special venue within JRA Hidaka Training and Research Center facilities in Urakawa Town.
      This event, which has been held since 1985, is dedicated to horses from the horse breeding region of Urakawa, and features the "Shinzan Festival" and the "Jockey Babies Hokkaido Regional Representative Selection Tournament" on the same day.
      A fierce competition unfolds among the young jockeys.

      Urakawa Yushun Village AERU

      Approximately 20 minutes by car from our hotel.
      The legendary racehorses that once galloped through huge crowds like the wind now rest peacefully.
      You can enjoy activities such as horseback riding and park golf, and the dog run and children's park are also popular.
